FAQ

What do I need to know before my first appointment?

If you are a new client, please come in 10-15 minutes early to fill out the Patient Information and Consent form, if you have not already done so online. I will do a brief assessment at the beginning of your treatment which is part of your treatment time. I do treat patients with ICBC claims, but do not direct bill to ICBC. Unfortunately I do not accept WCB claims. If you are a returning client, you do not need to come in early for your appointment.

What is your cancellation policy?

A minimum of 24 hours is required for cancellation of your appointment. Any late cancellation/rescheduling is subject to a late cancellation fee.

What type of treatments do you provide?

I provide treatments for (but not limited to):

  • sports injury rehabilitation & prevention
  • back and neck pain
  • stress relief
  • headaches
  • overuse injuries
  • postural imbalances
  • uncomplicated prenatal & postnatal massage

What type of techniques do you use?

Techniques used include (but not limited to):

  • myofascial release
  • deep tissue massage
  • trigger-point therapy
  • Swedish massage techniques
  • stretching
  • strengthening
  • active and passive range of motion release
  • joint mobilization

How many treatments will it take?

It depends on the factors around your case. How long you’ve had it, how severe, etc. During your first treatment I will complete an assessment with you and discuss your treatment plan at the end of your treatment.

Does insurance cover my treatments?

Registered Massage Therapy is covered by most health insurance benefit plans. Please contact your Health Care Plan Administrator for details about your plan and coverage, and to find out whether a doctor’s referral is required. If your extended health insurer allows direct billing through one of the options we have online, and you wish for us to bill for you, our front desk will process your claim for you after you have signed a consent form allowing them to do so. If you do not wish to direct bill through the clinic, or if your provider rejects your submission for any reason, full payment of the cost of your treatment is required at the time of service. A receipt with my registration number on it will be provided upon receipt of your payment. This receipt can be submitted to your insurance company for your reimbursement.

Does MSP cover my treatments?

I am opted out of MSP, therefore full payment is required at the time of your treatment. But if you are eligible for MSP Supplementary Benefits, our front desk can submit your claim for you. Only individuals eligible for MSP Supplementary Benefits are eligible for a combined annual limit (each calendar year) of 10 visits for acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, naturopathy, non-surgical podiatry and physiotherapy. MSP pays $23 for each visit. MSP Supplementary Benefits are provided to individuals who have applied, and have been deemed eligible based on their annual net income. For more information you can visit this BC Government page: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/health/health-drug-coverage/msp/bc-residents/benefits/services-covered-by-msp/supplementary-benefits If you have questions about MSP coverage you can contact Health Insurance BC for more information at 604-683-7151.

Are ICBC claims accepted?

I do treat individuals who have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, but do not direct bill to ICBC. Full payment of the cost of your treatment is required at the time of service, and a receipt will be provided upon receipt of your payment. This receipt can be submitted to your insurance company or your lawyer for your reimbursement.

Are WCB claims accepted?

Unfortunately WCB claims are not accepted.
