About Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a corrective, rehabilitative and preventive form of natural health care. It involves the skilled manipulation of the body’s muscles and tissues that are specific to your needs. Massage therapy positively affects your muscular, nervous and circulatory systems facilitating rehabilitation of your injuries and aiding in improving your health.

In British Columbia a massage therapist (RMT) is registered after having undergone extensive training, clinic, and out-reach experience. In BC all massage therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapy.

Each individual’s treatment plan will be unique, and will be based on assessment of their needs and their body’s response to treatment. A variety of techniques will be used, including, but not restricted to, myofascial release, deep tissue massage, trigger-point therapy and Swedish massage techniques.

Most extended health care plans have coverage for massage therapy, but details of plan coverage, including whether a doctor’s referral for massage therapy is required, vary depending on your plan. Please check with your Health Care Plan Administrator for details on your plan and coverage.

Testimonials

"Your sports therapy massage not only
relieved my back pain, but your knowledge of the
muscle and bone structure helped me understand
the muscle spasms and how to include stretches into
my daily routine to prevent further muscle tension. I
also appreciated the time spent after the massage to
instruct me on some weight training and stretching
ideas to rehabilitate an old shoulder issue.

Joy, you exceeded my expectations and went
beyond the assumed requirements of our appointment.
I have, and will continue to recommend you
to my friends and family."_

All the best.. Jeff Wiebe
"As a new client of Joy's I was unsure what
to expect or what her level of expertise and
service would be. I was impressed and completely
satisfied with both. She took the time to
understand not only my specific injury but also
my routine and the types of activities I engage
in. Often times the background story is as
important as the symptoms when recommending a
way to make things right. I felt better when I left
and I also got instruction on some simple stretches
that helped things back to normal. I had come in
with a painful and frustrating recurring wrist
injury and I'm happy to say it is now much
better - and more importantly, I know how to nip
it in the bud if it acts up again. I have no hesitation
in recommending her therapy services. I
will definitely be back if another injury
comes up!" - Mike
