About Joy

I graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following graduation, I spent a number of years working in the corporate environment before returning to my science roots to pursue a career in massage therapy. This decision was made out of a desire to be involved in the health care field while helping people maintain their health and active lifestyles. I subsequently graduated from Utopia Academy and am registered with the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia.

My massage therapy practice includes treatment of a wide variety of conditions, including injury rehabilitation and prevention, back and neck pain, overuse injuries, postural imbalances and stress relief. I believe that it’s important for clients to be actively involved in their rehabilitation while seeking out preventive and long lasting solutions to their musculoskeletal problems. With this goal in mind, you can expect to engage in important bilateral dialogue with me about possible exacerbating or reinforcing conditions at work, home and play and to receive information about postural education. I use a wide range of massage techniques in my practice, with a preference towards myofascial release, deep tissue massage, trigger-point therapy and Swedish massage techniques. My passion for outdoor sports, dance, yoga and pilates has complemented my massage therapy practice as these activities have given me a better appreciation of the body in motion, injuries that can result from various activities and rehabilitation.

I welcome both new and returning clients.
